§ Release notes

What changed, and when.

We update prices and copy frequently. This page is the durable record — handwritten, dated, ordered newest first.

  1. v0.4.0

Dark mode, public docs, and a developer API

A late-spring batch: the site now reads cleanly at night, there's a long-form cost guide for GTA homeowners, and contractors can hit the pricing data programmatically.

    • AddedDark theme — deep ink + warm cream, persisted to localStorage, honours system preference on first visit.
    • Added/guide — a long-form 2026 GTA deck cost guide written from a contractor's perspective.
    • Added/changelog — this page. Manual, no funnel, no email signup.
    • Added/developers — read-only JSON API exposing the same cities, materials, and pricing the calculator uses.
    • AddedCookie consent banner — gates AdSense and analytics until accepted.
  2. v0.3.0

    Editorial redesign

Rebuilt the marketing surface to feel like a fieldbook, not a SaaS landing page. New typeset, new rhythm, less noise.

    • ChangedSwitched the display face to Fraunces serif at 68/44px, kept Geist Sans for body copy.
    • ChangedReplaced trust badges with an editor's note and a small reference-prices sidebar in the hero.
    • ChangedSection headings now use § numerals (§ I, § II, § III) and hairline rules between blocks.
    • AddedSubtle paper-grain background on marketing pages.
  3. v0.2.0

    City pages live

15 GTA city pages — Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oakville, Burlington, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Milton, and Guelph — each with city-specific framing.

    • AddedPer-city pages at /[city] with local context, neighbourhoods, and a city-specific permit note.
    • AddedSitemap and robots.txt published.
    • AddedAbout, Privacy, Terms pages.
  4. v0.1.0

    Calculator launch

Initial public version. Size, material, height, railing, stairs, demolition, permit fees, and feature add-ons. Quotes a low/high installed range in CAD before HST.

    • AddedCalculator with four material options, four height bands, and five railing styles.
    • AddedLine-by-line cost breakdown with tabular numerals.
